8th May 2025 Workshop

Great experience exploring the Japanese technique of Raku firing.

This week, we used our raku kiln to fire pieces we had created.

Raku firing is a unique ceramic technique that involves quickly heating pottery, removing it from the kiln while it is still red hot, and then placing it in a container of combustible materials like sawdust or newspaper. This process, also known as post-firing reduction, creates a distinct blackened or crazed effect on the clay and glaze, resulting in unique and unpredictable finishes.

Jan 2025 Clay Festival – Matangi

A weekend of fun, food, and learning!

Matangi in January, we came together to celebrate our love for clay. With learning opportunities from experienced potters, we enjoyed the summer sun, explored techniques, and shared our experiences with the art of pottery.
